New British shows in June
-
Dear readers,
if you are pondering what to watch on daily basis here is a selection of British shows that are returning/premiering this month. Unfortunately the list is not huge. Fortunately Idris Elba is back, so yay for that!
If you haven’t seen the first series of Luther I would urge you to catch up. Yes it’s not rainbows and unicorns and whathaveyou but it is well written, the cast is great and as I said above Idris Elba, hello do you need another reason? So check it out and if you don’t like it you have every right to come back here and call me a silly cow, ok?
Case Histories is another new crime series for BBC based on books written by Kate Atkinson. With Edinburgh serving as a back drop the series follow the story of Jackson Brodie (played by Jason Isaacs, who Harry Potter nuts like me might know as Lucius Malfoy). Jackson Brodie is a former cop who now works as a private investigator and has an uncanny knack of attracting people who are in dire straits and need help. He ends up investigating three cases that on surface seem unrelated to each other – a little girl goes missing, man is murdered with an axe and a lawyer’s daughter is murdered for seemingly no reason.
Injustice is a new crime drama series for ITV. It stars James Purefoy as William Travers, a successful criminal lawyer, living in rural Suffolk with his wife and children. Travers is still haunted by the events from the past when he is forced to help his old friend Martin (played by Nathaniel Parker) as he faces murder and conspiracy charges.
Another new show from ITV Scott & Bailey is about two women detectives – DC Rachel Bailey (played by Suranne Jones) and DC Janet Scott (played by Lesley Sharp) – working for Syndicate 9, a division within Manchester Police. While personality wise they are complete opposites, they do share passion for their job and use it to their advantage to solve some of the most gruesome crimes Manchester has ever seen.
