Dear faithful readers,
no I’m not pulling your leg. Honest! Although I wouldn’t blame you one bit if you thought I was. I thought the same thing when this bit of news caught my eye. But since it is not April Fools’ Day I can only assume the news is legit.
Dynasty is heading for big screen!
From Richard Shapiro the show’s producer:
It was my daughter Florie’s notion to do a prequel, and that sounded very very good to us… It’s how young Blake doesn’t realize he’s the son of Tom Carrington, but then he finds himself at the head of this company and surrounded by assassins and people who want to do him in.
The movie will be a prequel set in the 60s. Which I think just might be a good thing. Now Dynasty was known for a lot of things – complicated and outlandish storylines, bitch fights and its fashion (oh shush stop laughing, it was fashion forward at the time) and even though I did love it at the time Dynasty The Reunion was a mess. And not even a hot mess at that.
So I think it might be a good thing they are trying to do something different. Although I’m not sure a feature length movie is the way to go because let’s face it – will people really drag their butts to see Dynasty in cinema?
Anyhow dear readers do tell me what do you think? Is a YAY or a big Nay for Dynasty reboot?
