Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work trailer
-
Dear faithful readers,
we love Joan Rivers around these parts. Sure she might be positively ancient but she is outrageously funny. Not to mention not shy about dropping an F* bomb or two. I think she is one of those people who you either love or hate – there is no in between.
I did see her on last season of Celebrity Apprentice (ok I promise I won’t mention that blasted show ever again). And given with all the heavy editing it is difficult to get an accurate picture or even an idea what a person might be about but she struck me as not only funny, sometimes kind but also as a hard worker – which might explain why she is still on the circuit at 77.
In this new documentary titled Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work directed by Ricki Stern and Anne Annie Sundberg cameras follow Rivers around for a whole year, so you get to see her in every possible mood and you get a glimpse into her life that might explain why she is still at it at her age.
The documentary was praised by Roger Ebert who had this to say
Joan Rivers gave the filmmakers access to her life for a year, she was frank, open and honest, and the result is one of the most truthful documentaries about show business I’ve seen. Also maybe the funniest.
And Ebert’s words are considered akin to gospel around our parts.
