Let’s talk… House

  • Dear faithful readers – let’s talk House.

Because to be honest with you none I know wants to discuss it anymore – they have all fallen off the wagon. My mum (bless her!) is still persevering however I do doubt her motives (she has mentioned on a number of occasions how good looking Hugh Laurie is).

Be as it may new promo trailer for House has been released and I’m quite interested to hear what you all think.

Now my initial impression was hmmmmmm that does look interesting. And funny. However I do keep forgetting you cannot trust network editors. As in people who put together these trailers. I cannot count a number of times I was all eager to see the next week episode based on the trailer alone and the episode turned out to be a complete dud. Silly, silly blond.

So from what we know (if these trailers are anything to go on) is that House is indeed in the loony bin. And we know the premiere of sixth season will be 2 hours long. But what we do not know is how long House will stay committed.

If House’s history is anything to go by big story line from the previous season gets resolved in the first couple of episode. But that would (in my blond opinion) completely defy the purpose of the dramatic meltdown House had. Belittle it somehow and belittle the character of House. A man defined by his brain, his analytical mind and his logic looses the ground beneath his feet and it cannot and should not be done and dusted by episode number 3. It simply cannot because that would be a cop-out. For heavens sake even that Tritter character from few seasons ago had a longer story arc (and a bloody good one it was too).

Since I have tried to stay spoiler free I don’t know what are the plans for the other doctors on the House team. I don’t care much about Forteen but I have read Cameron and Chase will have a more important story line (although I am hesitant to believe anything House producers say anymore and on the side note the video supposedly has a True Blood finale spoiler so you have been warned. I haven’t watched it myself as I’m trying to remain spoiler free).

There is also some news that the detective (played by Michael Weston) from last season is making a come back appearance.
Now I really liked him and I liked his rapport with House but I have always seen him as Wilson substitute. Why they are bringing him back – maybe because of that rumored spin off or perhaps just because they actually realized they could do something with the character. Be as it may I am a little bit dubious – House trying to find out more about his fellow inmates seems unlikely, more trying to get some dirt on his doctor. I was wrong before mind you – CB rising from the grave was a stroke of genius and Anne Dudek was brilliant. Brilliant! So it just might work out.

What I do hope is that we will see a return of cohesive story lines, much better selection of patient of the week and another Tritter character thrown in the mix just for the fun of it. It would be a welcomed change from what we have seen over the last two seasons (coincidentally and if Stephen Fry’s Twitter stream is anything to go on it seems he is working on Bones again. So make it happen already!)

And last but not least and I know I’m a shallow, shallow blogger but check out Hugh Laurie’s hair!
So (SOOOOOOO!) much better then that nest they fluffed up to high heavens and tried to make look all hip and funky. I was always of the opinion it is better to just shave it off when it starts to fall out and he does look much dishier this way doesn’t he? :)

    Fox All-Star Party

So tell me dear faithful readers what are your thoughts? Are you getting excited about the 2-hour premiere? Or have you too fallen off the wagon? What would you like to see happen in the sixth season of House?

  • Ted,

isn’t he just? Hugh Laurie and his thespian talents will be the end of me and my reputation – everyone has moved on to cool shows, I’m the only one who is still sticking with House :)

And I do love him doing drama, but you know what I love him doing comedy too :)
