Skellig - VIP Screening Arrivals

Dear faithful readers,

Oh I do have to share two of my current favorite TV programs.

First stop – In Treatment. I didn’t even realize that HBO renewed this show since it wasn’t crazy popular with the viewers. I totally loved it the first time around for a number of a reasons a) it has Gabriel Bryne after all b) although it is just two people sitting and having a chat it is strangely compelling viewing and c) it is only half an hour long which makes it perfect for us who suffer from a mild case of ADD when it comes to telly.
I didn’t even realize In Treatment started but it was nice to catch up again (this time with a whole new set of patients).

The second series I’m currently glued to is Life on Mars. But the original BBC version. For anyone unfamiliar with it – Detective Sam Tyler gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973.

Sure it is a police drama, it does have a brilliant cast (John Simm and Philip Glenister) but then again I’m hardly objective since I was always a sucker for police shows (goes back to the days of Cagney and Lacey). But what I absolutely love about Life on Mars are the small little details and quirks they use to accentuate the difference between our life in the 21st century and way back in the days of 1973. When Sam Tyler says “what I wouldn’t give for a decent search engine” while going through the dusty and musty old police files – well it had me in giggles. Or when Gene Hunt smokes a cigarette in the coma patient’s room and stubs it on the floor.

Ah bless we have come a long way since the 70s! And thank heavens we have moved on from all that drab polyester :)

Do check it out if you get the chance, I promise you will not be disappointed.

So tell me dear readers any current favorites you would like to share?
