Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday – the great Twitter experiment
-
Dear faithful readers – happy Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday!
I do promise we will be reviewing something soon enough however I would like to chat about something else with you dear faithful readers.
I was wondering – what are you getting out of the whole Mr. Fry on Twitter experiment?I for one love the fact there is no middle man (well in case of Mr. Fry at least there isn’t since he is the one doing all the tweeting, I cannot vouch for any other famous people on Twitter).
And I love the fact we enjoy these little glimpses into Mr. Fry’s latest projects. And the fact he is witty and clever and kind (well that and smoking hot if recent pics are anything to go by
In the last month or so (especially immediately after the Jonathan Ross interview) the number of Mr. Fry’s followers has exploded. It is well over 250.000 at the moment. And even though he is not following ALL of us, I can only imagine the amount of information and tweets he is bombarded with on the daily basis.
Today our lovely Mr. Fry posted 3 blog posts laying down some rules (you can find them here, here and here), well not really that is my wording as he is far too polite to put it that way. Just some things to consider before we get all enthusiastic with our tweets. And I have to say they do make sense.
There are only so many hours in the day to answer every question/follow request/bid to help a worthy cause.
But with a growing number of people, I do hope Twitter will not lose it’s luster for Mr. Fry.
So I am wondering what are you getting out of it all?
I for one am happy to have a little glimpse of Mr. Fry and his projects on daily basis. The most obvious parallel I can draw is (even though I have never met the man) is something similar to getting an update from a friend. You know – what is going on with me. For me that is enough.
Since I have used Twitter for quite a while, I was one of the first thousand of people that subscribed to his updates. And I did get an answer to a question that has been bothering me for a while (when I was little I used to watch TV nature show called Survival. I thought it was a BBC production, but I could not find any information about it anywhere. It turns out it was ITV’s East Anglia production. And I was not a silly blond after all I have remembered the name of the show correctly
But even without that I would be happy to follow the updates. Mr. Fry is alive and well.
So I would like to know what are you getting out of the whole Twitter experiment my dear faithful readers.
Are you happy to cyber stalk and admire from the distance? Do you like to ask questions? Or have you unfollowed by now?Do leave your thoughts in the comments below.
