An end of an era

  • 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Cocktail Party

After 10 years of being on the show William Petersen will be appearing in his final episode of CSI on January 15th. Well not last as in last EVER, plans have been made for him to show up in 200th episode (blimey I thought there were more) but whether you like CSI or not you have to admit this is an end of an era.

CSI is still most popular scripted show on American television with more then 20 million viewers that tune in every week. There is no denying it the show is good, CSI has its formula down to a pat and they (unlike other TV shows) do not deter much from it.

I mean why would CBS mess up with a good thing? CSI NY is quite good, even CSI Miami with David Caruso and his bad school of acting party tricks adds to it’s – well I can’t really call it charm but more universal appeal.

I do have to admit I tune in and tune out during the season, however CSI season finales do still cause quite a thrill. Although my favorite by far was the Grave Danger one directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Anyhow as a viewer I have to admit I will find strange to watch without Petersen. Sure they have Morpheus now sorry Laurence Fishburne but I’m guessing it just won’t be the same.

Lets just hope the same thing will not happen to him as to David Caruso who quit NYPD Blue to do movies which did not quite pan out as he had hoped. So best of luck to him.

But 10 years is a long time, we can’t really blame Peterson for wanting to move on to greener pastures.
