Grey’s Anatomy in shambles

You know I used to like Grey’s Anatomy. Operative words being used to. At one point it was even thrilling. Now it has turned into kind of telly you can watch with one eye while you read a book or file your nails or do whatever takes your fancy.
I think Shonda Rhimes was at her prime with season 2. Truly season 2 was spectacular and I think even people who do not like medical procedures will agree with me. Sure there was the now resurrected Denny, but every character had it’s own storyline and while it was borderline soapy at times, it was still interesting. We the viewers were invested in the show.
Now not so much so. Some characters barely get a few minutes on screen (which might have led to this still unconfirmed rumor that T. R. Knight is packing it in), some characters have sex with ghosts (do not even get me started on that one) and the whole lesbian thing was way off (don’t get me wrong I have nothing against lesbian couples being portrayed on prime time television, but this particular couple had no chemistry whatsoever) – Seattle Grace that I knew and quite liked is in shambles.
Last season would not even be worth mentioning were it not for the 2 quite good last episodes of the season.So it is not that Shonda Rhimes and her team of writers are not capable of superb writing – for some reason they just refuse to do it on regular basis.
Is it because they know they have time until season 8? Is that the reason why they can’t be bothered? You know Rob Thomas (of the Veronica Mars fame) never knew when he could get canceled maybe that is why we got 3 superb seasons.
And while some might argue that Veronica Mars had a small fan base (sooooo not true) look at series like Lost – they had a crappy season, did a complete reboot and that has certainly paid off (I for one love it and January cannot come soon enough).
I trolled the TV boards and fans are really hating on Shonda Rhimes and Grey’s. And this news as scooped by Ausiello over at EW about the actual state of Katherine Heigl’s character – well I wouldn’t be surprised it was leaked by some troubled network exec who is also trolling the boards
I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan and I love the banter and chemistry between Denny and Izzie but a) why didn’t they keep him alive to begin with and b) his promotional tour for Watchmen cannot start soon enough.
That way this embarrassment will end and the man will finally do what he is meant to do – play great roles.As for Shonda Rhimes – fix it and fix it soon. Otherwise we won’t be watching even when we file our nails.
