A quick, dirty and quite spoilerific comment of this September’s TV shows:

“Dexter” – the man is back. Dexter remains repulsing and sympathetic as ever, in the best tradition of HBO shows like “Deadwood” and “Rome”. “L.A. Law’s” (does anyone even remembers that series?) Jimmy Smits is a welcome addition to the show.

“The Fringe” – pretty much an “X Files” clone, but that’s ok considering we already live in the “X Files” decade. John Noble’s Walter Bishop is a wonderful mad scientist that – at least for now – overshadows other characters… except for Lance Reddick who is impressively creepy. Show’s science is sometimes ridiculously silly but then again, that’s what you get from “fringe science”?

“House M. D.” – contrary to Berta, I didn’t mind all the mopping around in the first episode. House remains cool and his friendship with Wilson is at stake. I only hope the writers are able to pull of the “Wilson leaves!” bluff better then what they did with Foreman’s “I am going away! No, I am not!” Honestly, bringing him back because “no other hospital wants to hire him” was just lame.

“Supernatural”
– Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I saw last episode of “Supernatural” four months ago and it already felt like two years went by. New episode not just managed to give a plausible explanation for Dean’s return from Hell but also gave us angels, which was pretty much the only thing missing from the show’s Monster Manual. If the writers treat the angels the same way they did other creatures – Don’t judge the book by it’s covers. - we just might get a best season yet.

“Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles” – before I started to watch the series I wrote that “Terminator” franchise doesn’t really lends itself well to a weekly TV format cause Terminator works far better as a one-shot monster then a recurring villain. It’s been 14 episodes now and my opinion remains the same. Also, aside of interesting questions about Cameron’s potential for humanity, the show’s plotline is still rather muddled. I’m still not sure what exactly do Sarah & Co. plan to achieve in the present. Stop the Skynet from appearing? If the only way they can do that is to halt the technological progress of entire mankind – and apparently it is - they’re pretty much screwed to begin with. David Austin Green remains surprisingly cool, though.

“True Blood” – last but not least! Another HBO’s delicacy, “True Blood” is a TV adaptation of Charlaine Harris’s novels. “True Blood” has white trash, vampires, violence, copious amounts of sex and generous topping of worst possible cliches about American South. Intro credits alone are worth the price of admission! “True Blood” also has Anna Paquin prancing around in delightfully Lolita-esque outfits.

I’m soooo gonna watch this!

Oliver out.

    any word on The Mentalist?

It seems interesting to me. Much more so than Fringe.

From what I read in the reviews (I still havent gotten around to actually seeing it) some people feel it a complete Psych rip off.
Since I have never watched Psych either, I guess I wont mind either way :)

I have finally seen True blood… and I like it a lot.
