Fringe – it is not X files. Or Lost for that matter.

  • FOX's

Spurned on by a recent article over at TV Scoop and just after I finished watching the latest episode of Fringe, I do have to admit I am a bit baffled.

Why exactly does Fringe need saving? Or tweaking?

I for one find it perfectly satisfying.

I think people should get over the 2 things.

First even though it was created by J. J. Abrams – Lost it is not.

And second – people, it is not the X files! (Well at least for now it is not and I for one will have my fingers crossed J. J. Abrams does not pull a Steven Spielberg and throw in an alien or two just for a good measure).

In my opinion Lost was ground breaking telly. Not since the X files (and please make the distinction I am only comparing the two fan bases not the content) has a show created such a buzz and such a devoted following.
Given there were bumps in the road (expect for the season finale, all of 3rd season was one huge bump in the road) but if anything last season showed us why so many of us got addicted to Lost in the first place.

Fringe might not be ground breaking, but the sudden increase of a whooping 59% in the ratings should tell you it something. Given it was on right after House, but still that is impressive.

Fringe makes for damn good telly. I know I was a smitten kitten for the pilot, but then again at the time there was nothing else to watch so I might have not been objective. However after seeing the second episode I still claim it is thrilling, interesting, fast paced and most importantly good.
This is the second show after Lost that makes me pay really good attention not to miss a single detail because it might be important for the plot.

So since when does that constitute as a reason for tweaking?
