Brain addlement or how House sucked big time
This is it my dear readers, my brain has been well and truly addled. There is no point in pretending this cold has got me good and proper.
Because how else can you explain that I find House irritating? See I told you!
I watched the season premiere and I found it meh. Yes that’s right – meh. I never find House meh!
House was irritating, brash, pig headed, miserable and constipated old git in the last night’s episode. Now that has never bothered me before. EVER. In fact I found it charming.
If I was in the right state of mind I would haphazard a guess that House is desperate to mend his friendship with Wilson, which makes him even worse then usual.
But a part of me wanted to shout to leave the poor man alone (lets not forget, he did after all kill Wilson’s girlfriend).
Blasted 13 was in every second shot (I still do not know her name nor do I care to find out) and I still find her bland as ever even though she is trying to be all ballsy and whatnot.
I never had much sympathy for Cuddy. But at least in the previous seasons she managed to retain a modicum of administrative air about her. Some sense of authority. At the moment, and to use House’s favorite word, she looks and talks like an idiot.
Which brings me to my next point – last night’s episode has probably broke some kind of a record for the number of times the word idiot was uttered.
The only interesting character last night was Wilson. And I’m glad the writers finally decided to give him some cajones. Finally! That little speech at the end which left House without witty retorts for once was absolutely brilliant (kudos to whoever wrote that bit).
What the hell is happening? To borrow the overused actor’s phrase, I do have every intention to trust the writers and see where all of this will go.
Hugh Laurie said an interesting thing in his interview for EW in regards to the all the staff changes last season and the fan’s reaction:
‘What would that be like if you said that to a person? If you said that to your partner, ‘You know, I used to love you when you… I think your partner would think, ‘Well, that kind of means you don’t love me, then. It’s not much consolation saying you used to love me when. If you don’t love me now, you don’t love me.”
Its not that I don’t love House, I do. I just found last night’s episode sucky to the extreme.
But of course I will stay the course – it is House after all.
