Ah how can I not love the 80s it was such a fruitful decade. We have finally come to the Sci-Fi bit of the program or some of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of the 80s.
They might not be the best, hell some might even scoff at my choice but these movies are the one that stand out in my mind as most memorable. Oh and the list is no particular order, I wrote them down as it came to me.
I was just thinking, isn’t it funny how you perspective of a movie can change over the years?
As always I’d love to hear your top picks and favorites.
Blade Runner – do you know I think I still have this one a VHS tape somewhere. Beyond cool.
Star Wars– now this one of the movies I liked at those days because of all the cool shiny things (bare in mind I was born the same year Star Wars was released) but over the years I have discovered the whole philosophical side along the lines of Do or do not, there is no try.
Star Trek(2,3 and 4) – I remember one particular winter holidays and Star Trek The Voyage Home.
Aliens – do not judge me but Aliens gave me nightmares for a while. That did not stop me from watching it though.
Ghostbusters – was that really Sci-Fi or was it supposed to be a horror? Either way loved Bill Murray even then.
Brazil – now I did not see this one until a few years ago, but Terry Gilliam directed this visually stunning and horrible (can it be both at the same time I wonder, I guess it can) vision of the future long, looong before I even heard about George Orwell and knew what Big Brother actually means.
Superman – I have said it once and I’ll say it again there was and there will be only one Superman in my book.
Abyss – can I just say I would take Abyss over Titanic any time?
Back to the Future – by far my favorite was the first part (and it does qualify as Sci-Fi there was time travel).
Twilight Zone – I absolutely loved Twilight Zone the series and it is no wonder I loved this movie.

omg, i posted a whole long thing and it didn’t save. so i’ll just say this:
there is absolutely, positively NOTHING shameful about this list. they range from excellent to thoroughly entertaining.
weekend at bernie’s, now _that_ was a shameful movie confession.
And I do agree Bernie was not one my more brilliant choice, but I stand by it I thought it was entertaining
