My introduction to the horror movies was A Nightmare on Elm Street. I could not sleep for days. But that did not stop me from watching a few more. All I will say and it is just my opinion they do not make them like this anymore. Make sure to check out the clips.
So what were the horrors that scared you shitless in the 80s? (Hawks I’m especially curious to hear your favorites).

The Fly – heaven help me how gross was the Fly? As if you ever needed a reason to invest in some insecticide.

The Shining – as it is obvious from this list I am a big Stephen King fan and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining is as close visually as you can get to the original novel.

Friday the 13th – well it is one of the classics isn’t it?

Hellraiser – it raised the hairs on the back of my neck that one did.

The Lost Boys – vampire movie for the 80s generation with both Coreys and Kiefer Sutherland way before we knew him as Jack Bauer.

A Nightmare on the Elm Street – I think this was the first ever horror I saw and well Freddy was as good introduction as any, couldn’t sleep properly for days.

Poltergeist – to me at least it is as scary as you can get.

Children of the Corn – may not have been the best of Stephen King’s work but it damn sure beats the Landmover man.

The Dead Zone – Stephen King and Christopher Walken, hm do I need to say more?

What a great list! I saw everything on here except Hellraiser. The Fly was totally gross, The Shining totally brilliant and still makes my skin crawl when they’re in the hedge maze. And Children of the Corn, as cheesy as it is, is completely scary and creepy, too. Great selection.

Did you know that Kevin Bacon was the first victim in the first Friday the 13th movie? He’s on screen for about 30 seconds or so.

Thanks Amy… I agree Fly was ewwww :)
And I could never ever resist Stephen King no matter how cheesy the TV/movie adaptation was.

Didnt know about Kevin Bacon, but at least he lived to dance another day :)
