You know how recently I have been complaining a lot there is nothing to watch on the telly? Well its true, with most of our favorite shows done for the season the pickings are very slim. And while I still plan to check out some of the summer viewing that is available I have come up with an idea that might shock you but do bare with me.

Here it is - lets go back to books.

I know, I know this is a TV and movie blog, however I do love to read. Ever since I got my first library card at the age of 5 I think it was. It didn’t take long for me to graduate (sort to speak - the librarian was kind enough to let me take out crime novels even though I had kids card) to Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Tolkien and as embarrassing as it is westerns by Zane Grey. Yup once upon a time I did enjoy a good western. And since I am a book tart (as well as being a documentary tart) which means I can read almost anything, my reading choice might be somewhat eclectic.
Just think about it – isn’t it nice to sit outside on the patio with a glass of lemonade or ice tea with your book of choice? The one you cannot wait to get stuck in? I consumed the last Harry Potter in 48 hours.
And for those of you who might be stuck in a long commute, there is always the option of audio books to consider. I have tried with Harry Potter and I was pleasantly surprised how much I loved it (it might have something to do with the fact Stephen Fry was reading it but still).

So what do you say? If you want to call me a silly blond you may do so in the comments below. Or if you have a suggestion for a book do let me know.
Be as it may, I am going to give my suggestion anyway.

My first book of choice is not a long read, but it is funny and delightful one – Me Talk Pretty One Day.
It is a collection of essays written by American humorist David Sedaris.
The book is divided into 2 parts – first part is about author’s childhood in Raleigh and the time he spent in New York, while the second part is about his move to France with his partner Hugh.
All I will say here I was thinking I have a dysfunctional family, Sedaris can give me run for the money. He takes the daily and mundane and turns in story after story that will have you in stitches.
Do give it a try and let me know what you think.
