What is happening with Eli Stone?

I have utmost respect and frankly admiration for the writers. Lets face it you have to have the skin thick as a rhino’s arse to successfully pitch a television show to the network and a combination of talent of Rob Thomas and money making skills of Jerry Bruckheimer.
And with new shows its even worse, it can take quite some time for any show to get into its stride, but with networks you do not get many second chances and prolonged periods of time to make it work as Tim Gunn would put it.I did stick with Eli Stone for 7 episodes for a few simple reasons
a) because Mr. Guggenheim the creator of the show did pop by and was kind enough to give us a bit of a preview of the dragon and
b) there are no lawyer shows at the moment that tickle my fancy (never got hooked on Boston Legal although I did love The Practice, Ally McBeal got old really fast and Law and Order well I don’t feel I am missing much if I don’t tune in).
So I stuck with it. It has to be said that the dragon episodes was finally a bit better then the previous ones. And don’t get me wrong I did love the whole George Michael singing on the coffee table thing (I am the 80s child after all), but for the love of God there was much, way too much visions of choir singing and Eli’s co-workers breaking into song and dance. The only thing missing was the dancing baby. Honestly he is supposed to be a prophet not a male version of Ally bleeding McBeal. And while Eli is likable enough (all down to Jonny Lee Miller who I like ever since Trainspotting) he lacks bit of depth in my opinion. I have foolishly expected a tad bit more angst and little less singing from lawyer who not only finds out he has a incurable brain aneurysm but that he is a modern day prophet to booth.
I do like my weekly dose of lawyers and I do feel there is great potential here, but I also do hope Mr. Guggenheim and his gang will make it work. And soon.
