The day Jericho returns

the-day-jericho-returns

I believe Jericho returned the day Jericho Rangers went into nuts overdrive, so don’t mind the title I’m being deliberately dramatic.

Since our friend Amy over at the Remote Access blog is keeping us all up to date with the latest Jericho news (cheers Amy) I thought what can I do (well apart from tune in) to do my bit.

I know a lot of you are organizing viewing parties so I will give you a few suggestions on party ideas. New viewers might pop over because of your delicious peanut butter double chocolate cookies the first time, but by episode 2 they will be hooked anyway. On Jericho, although the cookies might help too. So without further ado, here are a few serving suggestions.

Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday - day when Guy Fawkes was spotted and other tidbits

stephen-fry-appreciation-monday-day-when-guy-fawkes-was-spotted-and-other-tidbits

Dear faithful readers happy Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday!

I have to be frank and go on the record - I was a bit stumped about what I should write today. Although my enthusiasm for QI knows no bounds at the moment I do not want to bore you to death.
Plus of late I have been dispensing random trivia on friends and family (such as did you know octopus can be trained to open up a jar, now that is not really a normal topic you would discuss over coffee) which is usually met either with a blank stare, gazzy - eyed wonder or what are you on about?
Anyhow, I presume you are all fans and you know this stuff which makes you a much tougher audience to please. So without further ado, here is the today’s edition of Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday.

  • It seems V for Vendetta has much fans, as yesterday Guy Fawkes was seen around the world. Hmmm I wonder what Daddy Dietrich would say? Be as it may, I was delighted (Anon rocks) but it had one nasty side-effect, once again I cannot get “Remember, remember the 5th of November” out of my head.

  • I cannot believe I have actually missed last week’s edition of Dork Talk. Honestly I usually lose plot after the first paragraph (am a technically challenged blond after all) but I have strangely missed it. So I did a little rummage and I have managed to uncover these videos on Videojug where our lovely Mr. Fry talks about everything from being a geek to heroes (and no not the TV show, but as in people in general). I do hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Mr. Fry on learning

Mr. Fry on Internet

Mr. Fry on Web 2.0

Mr. Fry on heroes

  • Another reminder that Couchslobs is going international next month, we will be in Norwich on March 6th so anyone who wants to join us for a beer is more then welcomed to. And I promised to myself I will extended the invite until the departure time - Mr. Fry is also cordially invited if he is back from the States and him and his arm can manage it. Oh and anyone with good pub suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments.

Writers strike - the end is near?

writers-strike-the-end-is-near

Could it be? Could it possibly be that it is finally over?

Eisner claims the deal was struck last Friday and that the acceptance of the deal is inevitable.

Studios are cautious and our friends at United Hollywood are cautious as well. They do not want to rush into (completely understandable).

The only person ecstatically optimistic is Michael Ausiello of TV Guide who even made a handy chart of shows we can still look forward to. I think its great that we will be able to see 6 more episodes of Lost but why does it say TBD next to House? Surely they can ruffle something up.
I know it is a creative process and whatnot, but still just a few more episodes would be lovely, pretty please with some whipped cream on top?

Be as it may, this is the best and most promising bit of news in a long while so good luck to the writers and I do hope you get what you have picketed for.

The Richard Madeley Appreciation Society

the-richard-madeley-appreciation-society

Our blog buddy Richard Madeley from The Richard Madeley Appreciation Society politely warned us that he feels underappreciated on our little blog. To remedy this I prepared this post.

If you are not a Britt you might ask: Who the hell is Richard Madeley and why do I need to appreciate him? I know I did! Well Richard Madeley from http://richardmadeley.blogspot.com/ is a person. A human person. A human person feeling he needs to be appreciated. That should be enough for anyone. It is for me! But if you want to nitpick, apparently, in his free time he hosts UK’s most popular tea-time talk show, according to http://richardmadeley.blogspot.com/. Now that we have all of the reasons for appreciating Richard Madeley, go to http://richardmadeley.blogspot.com/ and appreciate him! Like we do.

Also, Mr. Madeley from http://richardmadeley.blogspot.com/ requested I post this video of him. So I will, because I appreciate him!

Project Runway - Ricky’s Out

project-runway-rickys-out

Noooooooooooooooooo! Why, oh, why God? Nooooo oooooooo oooooooo! Why did Ricky have to drop out?

If you haven’t seen the latest episode of Project Runway you probably don’t know that “Human Humidifier” Ricky dropped out. Oh, the cruelty! Oh, the injustice! Sorry, I have to take a moment to have a good cry…

vlcsnap-100297

Now I’m all better. Even more disturbing is the fact that without his constant flow of tiers humidifying the air in the studio, all those designs are going too look terribly wrinkly. And that’s not fierce. I’m worried!

Congrats to Chris. Chris rules!

In need of some therapy?

in-need-of-some-therapy

In Treatment is a peculiar beast. But then again most shows on HBO are – remember Oz?

And if you ever wondered what it would be like to eavesdrop on a shrink session, well it will give you a pretty good idea. The concept is unlike anything I have ever heard of, half an hour show each weekday for 9 weeks making 45 episodes in total.

Sci-Fi Channel - A Barrel Loads Of Fun Or Bucket Full Of Disappointment

sci-fi-channel-a-barrel-loads-of-fun-or-bucket-full-of-disappointment

I was watching my new Dune miniseries and thought how awesome shows Sci-Fi Channel has, when all of a sudden I came to a conclusion that, with exception of a few peals, Sci-Fi Channel is mostly loads of rubbish.

Amazon.com: Frank Herbert’s Dune (Sci-Fi TV Miniseries) (Special Edition Director’s Cut) (3-Disc DVD Set): Movies & TV: William Hurt,Alec Newman,Saskia Reeves,James Watson (IV),Jan Vlask,P.H. Moriarty,Robert Russell (VIII),Laura Burton (III),Ian McNeice,Matt Keeslar,Lszl I. Kish,Jan Unger,Giancarlo Giannini,Julie Cox,Miroslav Tborsk,Uwe Ochsenknecht,Barbora Kodetov,Jakob Schwarz,Karel Dobry,Christopher Lee Brown,John Harrison

Even though they do have a smash hit here and there, like Battlestar Galactica and Dune miniseries, most of their shows are Continue Reading »

Itsy bitsy recap extravaganza

itsy-bitsy-recap-extravaganza

The last of the pre-strike episodes are finally seeing the light of the day and truth be told (and especially since I saw the Sunday’s episode of House) I am blasting and damning the producers to hell and back. Will you get on with it already you turdilicious turds? Pardon my French. Ok so lets take a look.

Grey’s Anatomy – although it has been a while since we saw the last pre-strike episode of Grey’s it was not particularly impressive. There was plenty of drama with Bailey’s kid getting injured and her spats with her husband, but overall it was meh. Sure Mer-Der is off again, but seriously at least they could have made it a bit more interesting. I am not saying I am Meredith’s biggest fan, but Rose? Perhaps I am wrong, but at least Meredith is dark and twisty, by comparison Rose seems quite dull.

Ugly Betty – Bananas for Betty was by far my favorite episode of the season, it was hilarious. The last episode not quite so much. As strike is still in progress and I try to remain spoiler free I am a tad bit curious where will the show go from here. The potential for drama is great – Henry leaving, Christina and her pregnancy, Claire finding out about test tube mini Meade and other whatnots should make for some interesting and hopefully funny telly.

Supernatural – finally, finally things started hotting up on Supernatural. Apart from the obvious appeal of the Winchester brothers we got a glimpse on what the pits of hell might be like and who Ruby really is. She is still the demon chick who kicks ass and get the Winchester boys out of trouble, but at least we have learned why she is doing it. Well sort off. Why do the writers love to give us smidgens of information and then leave it all for season finale? Tsss do I have to spell out attention deficit disorder?

House – well House rocked. Especially the post - Super Bowl episode. Classic House and kudos to writers. 4 years they have been doing this and they still manage to make it fresh and interesting. Think about it, the form is so strict - one patient with a dodgy disease every week, you have to be very imaginative to make that into something people will watch week after week. And even though I think I am completely immune to House’s quirks (I am purposely using a polite word here) more then Wilson himself, I still do manage to shout out “He didnt just say that, did he?” The only good thing that has come out the blasted strike is that Hugh Laurie had some time to recuperate in England. Bless.

Lost – well Lost has come back with a bang and made my brain fry. To be honest we have all waited so long and just because of that I thought it was going to suck big time. Isnt that usually the case with everything in life? But I digress.

Although I still think the-too-early-demise of Charlie was a bit of tosh, but finally, finally Hurley was the man. Or should I dude? I said I was going to write to the network if Hurley did not get more airtime, now there is no need. But that is the subject of another post for later on this week and after I have seen the second episode (and even though I try to remain spoiler free my brother informed me rather gleefully it should be better then the first one).

The newcomers worth checking out Eli Stone and Breaking Bad. I still have not gotten round to watch In Treatment so I’ll get back to you on that one.

Also do not forget Jericho on Thursday!

So what are your thoughts?

Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday - special announcement

stephen-fry-appreciation-monday-special-announcement

Dear faithful readers happy Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday!

Today we have a semi-big announcement and before you get your knickers in a twist no Mr. Fry still has not agreed to our little Q and A. However the announcement is, well here it goes – we are going to East Anglia. Norwich to be exact.

It was a combination of things

  • desperate need to give our passports some action (and some new stamps)
  • change of scenery
  • never seeing East Anglia before
  • taste for the perfect pint (and some fish and chips)
  • English chaps with their delightful accents
  • seeing friends I have not seen in a while

And all I will say is God bless low cost airlines for enabling us to book tickets overseas dirt cheap and special offers by hotel chains.

The travel plans are still a bit foggy at this moment, we hope to manage to get Swaffham (where Kingdom is filmed) and I do hope to post you a picture of me looking all windswept and broody on that spectacular beach however experience has shown the best way to plan a trip is not to make too many plans in advance. Truth be told usually that way is the most fun way.

So we would like to invite any of you faithful readers who are local to the Norfolk area to
a) suggest any good pubs in the area, chip shops and any other attractions worth seeing

b) we would like to cordially invite you to join us for a beer once we settle on our watering
hole for the weekend

c) also although this is quite a stretch we would like to cordially invite Mr. Screwy sorry
Mr.Fry if he does get back from the States and if him and his arm can handle it to join
us as well for a beverage of his choice.

I do have to say in general we are well behaved bunch and I solemnly swear my days of making people take their shirts off are long gone :)
