Lost - some of my favorite theories

lost-some-of-my-favorite-theories

After seeing last night’s episode of Lost I was reminded why I started to like the show to begin with.
Sitting on the edge of your seat and for all 40 or so minutes being sure it can only go in one possible direction then right at the very last second wham bam thank you ma’am the world of Lost gets tilted again. As Hurley would say - Awesome dude!
I got that during the whole of season 1, a few times during season 2, only twice during season 3 but season 4 at least so far is proving to be just as good as the first.
So if there is one thing I have learned with Lost is never, ever presume anything. But I will tell you, if I could be a fly on the wall during the writers brainstorming sessions…
It seems to me with Lost theories, it is a bit like arseholes everyone has one so rather then to bother you with mine, I had a bit of a rummage and down below you can find a list of some of my favorite Lost theories. Some are debunked, some are not, but they are all interesting. And there are possible spoilers ahead so beware.

  1. It is not a dream or purgatory, castaways are being influenced by psychics that can use the electromagnetism of the island.
Mostly based on season 1 and the orientation film. Although the author abandoned the theory since it is well thought out. And it would explain why there were no hairbrushes in any of the suitcases on the plane.
  2. The latest theory posted on ABC boards deals with season 4 and the Oceanic 6. Who will come back, who will not come back and who is in that blasted coffin?
  3. Interesting macrotheory on Dharma, Others, Quarantine and other bits and bobs. Be prepared, its quite a long read.
  4. Timeline theory
  5. Remember the map on the hatch door? You can see it here and read what what was actually written on it (and yes thanks heavens there are translations from Latin because I am beyond rusty)
  6. Why did Charlie die, what was Desmond’s role in it and is everything really that inevitable like Desmond thinks or do we have a choice?
  7. Have you ever wondered where exactly is the island? Here are some possible answers.
  8. Those blasted numbers? Although producers said we might never know what the numbers actually mean (tsss honestly spoil sports) I quite like this little theory
  9. It is not a theory per se, but Jeff Jensen over at EW has an excellent article about last night’s episode of Lost and it does make sense yes we learned something, but it does come with the price of new unanswered questions
  10. And if that makes you wonder what questions will finally be answered this season read this fantastic interview with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse
  11. At Pop Candy blog there is weekly discussion after every episode and there are always some interesting comments and theories
  12. List of Lost questions
