Things I have learned watching Project Runway
- In the words of immortal and decidedly gorgeous Tim Gunn Make it work!
- The same wise man also said Do not defend the shoe
- Every garment can be described as Fierce or God awful hideous
- Having said that the polite way to say a garment is God awful hideous is to say the garment was not well executed
- It is possible to make a garment for 15 bucks
- Spitting on the dress is ok as long as you do not tell the judges about it
- Michael Kors can be as bitchy as any woman suffering from PMS
- All men on Project Runway are gay; no sorry that should go all men on Project Runway are gay, apart from a token heterosexual
- It is all about designer’s point of view
- Having said that the designers point of view a) may not be to judge’s taste (think Kayne) and b) the designer’s point of view might be God awful hideous (think Elisa’s Gretel dress)
- Glue is to be used as the last resort. If you do have to use it as a last resort you better not let Tim Gunn catch you do it
- Tim Gunn uses words I have never heard before but one rule of the thumb applies – if you do not understand it it cannot be good
- The one problem all designers share is they cannot design for “normal” woman (meaning shorter then 6 feet and fatter then a toothpick)
