Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday - news and other tidbits

stephen-fry-appreciation-monday-news-and-other-tidbits

Dear faithful readers,

happy Stephen Fry Appreciation Monday!

I will be frank with you, I did watch Oscar Wilde over the weekend and I had every intention of writing a review about it, however I did not expect the movie to leave me so hm what is the word I’m looking for - depressed? Nah and it is not sad either, more annoyed. Yes annoyed is the word I’m looking for. It has nothing to do with Mr. Fry’s performance; it is more to do with the overall feeling of it. I’ll try and make a coherent post about it, but for a bit of a change I want to share some bits and pieces of news I have found about Mr. Fry over the weekend.

First stop – The Magic Flute is out, although if you are expecting to see Mr. Fry making an appearance you will have to hold your breath, he only co-wrote the screenplay for the movie. Directed by Kenneth Branagh this is a movie adaptation of one of the Mozart’s most famous operas.
And for any of you who live in London (oh how I’m jealous!) you can go to the Old Vic and see “Cinderella” panto again written by lovely Mr. Fry and with music by Oscar award winning composer Anne Dudley.

You know I was thinking our lovely Mr. Fry makes me feel like a right old slacker and a slob. How does a man get so much done I wonder? It is a bit nauseating to think about his workload. Then on the other hand and going back to Moab is my Washpot, I think there is a Divine plan why Mr. Fry cannot sing and compose for the simple reason to be able to get some sleep here and there.
Which also just made me think about his inability to dance. If I might be so frank and on a more personal note, I guess Mr. Fry is unaware that 99%, ok I might be exaggerating 98% of males when dancing look like one and/or all of their limbs got stuck in a blender of some sort. How bad can you be I wonder? Maybe one of the New Year’s resolutions should be to let it go a little bit and shake that ass?

Second stop – have you ever dreamed about what it would be like to live next door to Mr. Fry? Hm I’m afraid I would stuff the poor man to death with my lunches and desserts.

Now for measly Ł10 you can own a house right next to Mr. Fry’s and help a charitable cause. UK based charity Shelter has launched a virtual community where you can buy plots of land, houses, windmills or even take over the local pub while the funds collected with go to the homeless and badly housed children this Christmas. The prices start at Ł5 and go all the way to Ł1.500 (for businesses and corporate packages).
Visit the Shelter, buy a house and try to find Mr. Fry’s humble abode.

Attention Veronica Mars fans - December competition

attention-veronica-mars-fans-december-competition

Attention Veronica Mars fans!

Today in my inbox there was a newsletter from Neptune rising (fan campaign to bring back Veronica Mars).
Neptune rising has a great competition in December and it is fairly simple while the prize is first 2 seasons of Veronica Mars on DVD. The competition is open until December 15th.

What do you have to do?
You will have to subscribe to the Neptune rising newsletter at NeptuneIsRising@gmail.com.

Then you will have to answer some Veronica Mars trivia questions that are fairly simple for any fan (if you are not a fan, but you still want a chance to win, leave me the question you are having problems with in the comments section and I’ll help you out) for the chance to win season 1 and season 2 on DVD.
I have both DVDs so I don’t need them but if you are a future fan I will do anything to help you out plus season 1 was what got me hooked in the first place.

Here are the questions:
1. What is the Neptune High mascot? (Bonus points for naming the animal that also serves as Neptune’s mascot)
2. What animal was Veronica “always hoping for”?
3. What is the name of Veronica’s perfume?
4.Where is Veronica when we first meet her?
5. What county is Neptune located in?
6. What is the name of the gang that Weevil is a part of?
7. What was written on Wallace when we see him taped to the flagpole?
8. Who was Mac switched at birth with?
9. What did the shot glass that Logan left for Lily say?
10. What are the call letters (example KROC, WFMU) for the Hearst College radio station?
11. Name two secret societies in Neptune.

Bonus:

* What’s Veronica’s address?
* What is the phone number of Mars Investigations?
* What sport did Veronica play when she was younger?
* According to Veronica, What are girls crazy about?
